Hi Everyone!First of all, I want to apologize for not being around for so long. I know that I promised some blog posts about products that I got in Paris and I will do them :) I have my final exams in two weeks and I spend all of my time studying and trying now to freak out too much!
I thought that this could be the perfect opportunity to do a blog post about Exam Preparation and some study tips. It is very stressful time for all of the students but sometimes it seems worse that it really is. We just have to breathe and be confident because if you did put in the work and study then it will pay you off. Obviously if you did't show up for classes and didn't bother studying at all...Weeeell.. No one can help you :)
I think that no matter what exams you are doing. They can be everyday school tests, final school exams or college exams. You can use the same techniques that will help you study efficiently and fly through your exams. In my opinion there are many aspects that can help you study and I will go through all of them.
Your Body:For our body to be able to study it needs to be healthy. Our brain needs all the necessary vitamins and minerals to perform at its best. Therefore we need to feed our brain and body with good food and lots of water. Think about your body as a car...You need a good fuel to be able to drive through your exams.
All the good food, water and workouts will give you body the energy and strength to perform at its best on the exams.
Study:My main advice is to study Actively! Don't just sit down and read over the notes and textbook. Have a pen in your hand and highlight keywords, cover them and try to repeat it in your words. If your can repeat it in your own words then you really understand the topic.
Use Flashcards to learn your keywords and formulae. Use colors! Our brain hated plane texts. It loves short information, color and structure.
It's good to know that only 20% of things that are on the course actually will come up on the exam. But unfortunately we have to learn all 100%... Try to summarize each chapter in your book to just ONE page. Use keywords and main ideas. Again use colors and structure. It will help you when revising.
Don't overload your brain with information. It is physically impossible to study five hours in a row. Give your brain time to relax. Go for a walk and breathe.
Those few week before the exams are probably the hardest ones. I personally always panic that I don't study enough and some people are doing more work that me. Do you ever get that feeling? Well, if you do then I'm not alone :)
It's ok to be worried and even a little scared. A very important thing to remember is that exams are no the end of the world and there is life after them. Believe in yourself! If you did the work it will pay you off!
->Some students have a habit of drinking coffee every time they feel tired. Ironically, coffee will make them even more tired and exhausted. Also it affects our mood and emotions and causes us to be even more stressed. Instead try drinking a class of water every time you feel tired. When our body feels tired is one of the first signs of dehydration and coffee is not helpful at all.
->Staying up all night and trying to get last hours of study done. The day before exam is usually very hard. The body will have enough stress and what it does't need is additional portion of exhaustion from sleepless night. Also it is way better if you go to your exam after getting a good sleep and feeling fresh!
->Dear Girls and Boys, Dieting during your exams is not the best idea. Your body is stressed enough on its own.
After the exams we have Summer and we all can do this:
So lets do it! Believe in yourself and it will go Great :)
